Global Harmony Project

Te Ao Mana in conjunction with the Global Harmony Project, created a presentation for the voyaging crew of the Hokule'a to support their mission of Malama Honua, or to care for the earth, a message they are taking with them as they travel the globe using ancient Polynesian navigation. That means no GPS, googlemaps, or cell phone reception!! The presentation included a Hawaiian chant taught by Pua Case in a Mauna Kea workshop, urging the world to become more aware of the current situation of the Mountain Mauna Kea in Hawaii. The chant and hula was followed by the presentation of a pe'a or sail that was gifted to the crew of the Hokule'a. The sail was decorated with traditional tattoo and an original design collaborated on by Anthony Aiu and Kaina Quenga, co-directors of the Global Harmony project. Included in the presentation of the pe'a was an Olelo and chant written by Anthony Aiu and translated into Hawaiian and performed by Kainoa Embernate. It was deeply felt event!
